I’m SO happy you’re here!

Kirsten Vadelund, Psy.D
Licensed Psychologist & Practice Owner

You deserve help and I am here to help you.

It can be hard to reach out for help especially if you are battling the belief that you don’t deserve help.

Whether you are …

  • Struggling with the transition into motherhood.

  • Trying to navigate negative body image and society’s impossible beauty standards.

  • Experiencing the baby blues or symptoms of postpartum depression, anxiety, or rage.

  • Need support maintaining recovery from your eating disorder while navigating pregnancy / motherhood.

When we give ourselves compassion,
we are opening our hearts in a way that can transform our lives.

— Kristin Neff

My background & credentials

I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Florida State University and my doctorate in clinical psychology from Nova Southeastern University.

I completed my predoctoral internship/residency at a residential eating disorder facility, where I worked with adolescents, young adults, and adults with moderate to severe eating disorders.

I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Radically-Open Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (RO-DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and I have extensive training in Maternal Mental Health through Seleni Institute.

I implement an integrative approach, meaning that I will use a combination of evidence-based treatment techniques depending on your needs. Everyone is different and I believe in tailoring my approach to each individual.

The therapeutic relationship is the most important factor in therapy being effective for you so I believe in creating a safe space where you can let your guard down and be your authentic self. Because when you can do that, you give yourself the opportunity to start your healing journey.

I am a mom myself so I know first hand the challenges that come with postpartum and the unrealistic expectations that society can put on moms. Couple that with trying to heal your own inner wounds and break generational cycles.

As a therapist, I believe in a collaborative approach. I will be your biggest cheerleader, celebrating your wins like they are mine, and I will also challenge you because we all need that extra push sometimes.
